The Woman Huntress in Doorwerth castle
2016-07-02 – 2016-09-25
For centuries, the art of hunting was dominated by men. Women were only active on special occasions and in certain circumstances. Only a few independent women didn’t bother about rules and conventions and participated in this masculine domain.
Modern women are no more inhibited by these conventions. They are allowed to hunt and they do so. More and more women are active huntresses, thereby proclaiming to care for the environment, to enlarge sustainability and to acquire healthy food.
The female role in the history of hunting is now subject of an exhibition at Doorwerth castle.
